This innovative tool automatically identifies individual objects in photos, allowing easy manipulation like moving or deleting objects as if they were on separate layers. It also features a "Contextual Task Bar" that can detect next steps in the design process and offers quick editing options. Project Stardust harnesses generative AI capabilities similar to Adobe's Firefly-powered Photoshop tools, enabling tasks like filling selected areas with AI-generated content. Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the company is actively working on generative AI and intends to expand its AI team in the UK. During his visit to Apple's new UK headquarters, Cook discussed the importance of AI in Apple's products, highlighting its role in features like Fall Detection on the Apple Watch, Crash Detection, Afib detection, ECG, and predictive typing on the iPhone. He also acknowledged that Apple is researching generative AI, and the technology is pervasive across their products. OpenAI Plans to Develop its Own AI Chip
OpenAI is reportedly considering the development of its own artificial intelligence (AI) chips to address the scarcity of AI chips it relies on. CEO Sam Altman has identified the shortage of advanced processors and the high costs associated with running the hardware as major concerns. Options being explored include building its own AI chip, closer collaboration with chipmakers like Nvidia, and diversifying suppliers beyond Nvidia. OpenAI's generative AI technologies currently rely on Nvidia's GPUs, and the company faces high operational costs running ChatGPT. Developing its own chips would put OpenAI among tech giants like Google and Amazon that design their own fundamental chips. However, it would be a major strategic and financial undertaking, and an acquisition may speed up the process. Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, has partnered with Ray-Ban to release the second-generation Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. These AI-powered smart glasses, available starting on October 17, offer features like a 12MP camera, built-in speakers, a five-microphone system, and AI assistance. Wearers can use the glasses to livestream, play music, send messages, make calls, and more. The glasses also feature improved audio quality, an integrated Meta AI assistant activated by saying "Hey Meta," and a variety of frame and lens customization options.
